Joining
Chad Brock on the bill at Silver Springs on Saturday, April 1, was
Porter Wagoner, a veritable icon in the country music industry. He
began his career strumming a guitar in a grocery store in his hometown
of West Plains, MO, and soon had his own early morning radio show. He
signed with RCA Records in 1955, immediately had a #1 hit titled "A
Satisfied Mind" and two years later was invited to join the Grand
Ole Opry. Starting in 1960, he starred in the weekly "Porter
Wagoner Show," a weekly syndicated TV program that remained on the
air for 21 years. Today, he continues to have a major presence on
television as a regular host on TNN:The Nashville Network's Saturday
night program "Opry Backstage." PORTER'S
